In the Brecon Beacons

It’s time to lace up my walking boots and head to the Brecon Beacons to undoubtedly log far too many hikes on Strava! Staying in Brecon itself, I was perfectly placed for all the amenities I needed as well as incredible landscapes on my doorstep.

I began my trip with a hike up Waun Fach, which showed me that the hills that I had become used to in Shropshire and Worcestershire were in fact not that steep in comparison to this! It was a day with sunny spells and cloud which painted some great light across the landscape as I climbed up and you are rewarded with panoramic views once you are at the top.

Next up on the agenda, Pen y Fan. It was a cloudier and mistier day than Waun Fach, so the view you see in the next photograph wasn’t quite there when I had initially climbed – fortunately the cloud did clear so I was able to capture the view.

Along the way up, I was greeted by the friendly wooly custodians of the mountain as the views began to clear – revealing the incredible views of the valleys below and the topography of the mountains which almost look like brush strokes.

I finished off my trip by walking up Pen-y-Crug, which gave views over Brecon as well as back into the mountains.
