To finish off the year, I took one last trip to the coast. This time I found myself in North Devon, near Woolacombe, walking around and exploring the coastal paths I walked when I was younger.
I started off in Croyde, following the circular walking route to Baggy Point and then Putsburough Beach. The walk was pleasant in the December sunshine, although make no mistake, the chilly costal breeze was certainly there.
Everything around has a slight golden tone to it in the sunlight, and the soft fluffy clouds in the sky matched with the blue backdrop of the sky and the sea looked great. The sand at Putsburough was incredibly smooth, and you can see onto Woolacombe in the distance.
I finished up my walk back at the beach in Croyde, catching the start of Golden hour and the haze rolling into the landscape. The next day saw me head down the narrow country lanes to Heddon’s Mouth, which also has a nice pub next to the car park – perfect for a bite to eat!
I then wanted to head back into Woolacombe after seeing it from a distance the other day, from here I could look across the beach down to Putsborough Beach in the distance. Woolacombe was quiet out of season, but fortunately there were still some cafes and shops open.
Another golden hour was rolling in, so I headed back to Croyde – just a short drive away to catch one last sunset over the coastline. The weather started to turn the next day, so I am glad I made the trip.
